Herald Sun: Culpable driving charge over Christmas Eve cycling death (December 30, 2008)
Police have laid a culpable driving charge over a cyclist’s death, killed in a Christmas Eve accident in which his brother was also hit.
Luke Shields, 31, of Mentone has been remanded in custody over the smash in which 35-year-old West Australian man Sean Brindle died.
Mr Brindle died in the Alfred Hospital from injuries he suffered when hit by a car on Beach Rd, Mentone, last Wednesday night.
His brother Alun was injured in the same collision.

I was so sorry to hear about Sean and Alun’s accident. They attended Esperance Senior High School in WA back in the 80s and were really nice boys. Our sympathy to their families.
